Daar is in totaal 13,776 bale aangebied, waarvan 92.9% verkoop is. Die koper was Lempriere SA. Baie geluk met die prestasie!

MARKVOORUITSIGTE

MARKET FORECAST

This week the SA wool market again followed the Australian market and traded higher, in terms of sentiment. The main reason for the increase in the wool market can be attributed to the good demand for good quality long wool. Another attributing factor was renewed competition amongst all buying houses after the Chinese holiday during the previous sale. The slight strengthening of the Rand against main currencies, prevented a bigger increase in the local market. Volitality in the wool market on the short and medium terms might proceed though, as a result of the ongoing trade war between Cina and the USA, as well as the BREXIT issue in the UK, which could negatively influence the European economy. Substantiating this, reports from Australia shows a varience of 743 Aus cents in the wool market for the past 10 weeks. This is positive and negative, which proofs that accurate predictions for market tendencies is not possible. Volumes world wide also remains under pressure as a result of the still pressing draughts in large parts of Australia and South Africa. The volumes of wool received in the stores of the brokers are 15% lower compared to the same time of the previous season. Producers must still be aware that it becomes more important to adhere to set industry standards, such as Responsible Wool Standards, for assuring future competition in the international environment. OVK is committed to assit our producers in the obtaining of such certification. Producers must also ensure that flock health enjoys priority and that herds are vaccinated against diseases like Rift Valley Fever. If good rains will occur during spring and early summer in areas which suffered previous outbreaks, history might repeat itself with catastrophic economical consequences for the industry. The next wool auction is scheduled for 17 October 2019 where 13 121 bales will be on offer. This report by Heinrich Victor, Manager Fibre Operations – OVK.
